During this time of year many people are sick and many parents wonder how they can keep their kids and their family healthy. The best and most important thing you can do is wash your hands frequently and teach your kids how to do it too. Teach them to wash with warm soap and water and get a good lather going and sing a song like ABCs or Happy Birthday. That will help them wash for the appropriate length of time. If you're not able to wash your hands use an alcohol based hand sanitizer for you and your kids. Teach your kids to cough and sneeze in their elbow and to wash their hands after they've touched any secretions from their nose or mouth. Also decontaminate any frequently touched surfaces in your home and the most obvious tip is stay away from people that you know are sick.
