As Marcus Jones reports, that's the strategy that helped Silber gain rapid name recognition in the early stages of the 1990 primary campaign. Silber ultimately surprised liberal Democrats by winning the party's nomination for governor. He surprised even more people by entering the final stretch of the general election as the front-runner against longtime Republican politician William Weld.
