Our 20th anniversary is coming up and I wanted to share some stories about my husband and how awesome he is!  In my scammer soap opera videos, the creation of my fake husband Richard is inspired by real men - not my husband!  I was horrified to meet a couple where the husband was so controlling, he seriously mentioned to be in front of his wife that she wasn't allowed to eat after 4 or 5pm because otherwise she would gain weight. He accompanied her to everything and I kind of wanted to punch him in the face.  I remember looking at her like, "You're allowing this?!"  I can't even believe other arguments she let him win.  A friend witnessed her sneaking food when her husband's back was turned.  He tagged along at events that were for women only!  OK, I shouldn't get myself started on this, but it still makes me so mad!

Marriage is hard work no matter what.  It's not luck.  It's not just about compatibility. Life is guaranteed to get hard and therefore your marriage will be hard at some point.  It's important to keep doing thoughtful things for each other.  

I'm grateful that I found him.  When I first met him and we were hanging out with a group of friends, I remember one guy "joking" that he was going to find a girl and drop the nice act.  I think he actually meant that because he wasn't a nice person.  My husband said, "I'm still going to be nice to my wife." He was so sincere about it and I knew he meant it.  I knew I could make it through anything with a man who is kind and thoughtful.

I'll never forget what he did for our first married Valentine's Day.
