We are in the midst of a world wide revolution in how we work and play driven by the sudden availability of collaboration technologies which is allowing anyone to connect immediately with anyone else in world.  This "connectivity revolution" is very quickly transforming our world. This revolution is of the same scale as the Industrial Revolution. It is imperative that we all understand what is happening and how we can participate in this new world of work to fully realize our dreams, goals and ambitions.

Russ is a partner and co-founder with Jon Wagner of Virtual Teams, a firm which specializes in enabling the virtual workforce and organizational development. Their focus is on helping teams, organizations and communities increase effectiveness take advantage of the exciting opportunities in the new virtual worlds of work.  

In this TedX St. Catharines talk, Russ Milland shares insights from their research into the world-wide revolution underway in today's society and especially into the new ways that we will work in future. Each of us must seize the opportunities to use the exciting new web-based collaboration technologies to build a better world by developing strong vibrant virtual teams, organizations and communities.  Our research suggests that there are 11 key success factors which must be managed well to ensure that these virtual groups prosper and grow.  In this Tedx talk, we address each of these factors.  

Russ is on the faculty of the Canadian Organizational Development Institute, has presented at six recent national conferences and has co-authored three books: Building Effective Virtual Teams Handbook, BEST Practices for Virtual Meetings and BEST Practices for the Virtual Classroom. He is also an avid coach, mentor and railway enthusiast. As a Director of the Toronto Railway Historical Association, Russ is actively involved in his community working with a virtual team of seasoned professionals in the development of the Toronto Railway Museum in partnership with the City of Toronto. 

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
