Maui Hawaii Rafting Boat GoPro Speeding. See the wave at 0:34 that almost flipped us sideways. We are on a rafting boat at Maui chasing whales in Pacific Ocean. We are only allowed to get so much close to them. If they accidently pop right by you, you just have to stop your engines and sit and wait until they go away form the boat! They are federally protected and yes they enforce the laws to the full extent. Humpback whales are not a rare encounter around Hawaii. The captain was very experienced so we did not have any incidents but recently I heard a boat hitting a whale and multiple people falling in water, one getting killed! So as much as fun is out there, there is always that risk of injury like with every outdoor activity. This boat was fast and ocean was not calm at all. You be the judge and tell me if you would go out there with these waves hitting the boat like this. We still enjoyed it very much and made it back safely.
