We’ve explored time signature before in the past, but in this lesson we’re going to place more emphasis on the feel for simple and compound time. If you’re still not 100% sure about what exactly the difference is, let’s start there. Simple time is the beat of music when it’s broken down into a two-part feel. They are the easiest to count, because the pulse feels the so natural to a musician. Examples of simple time are 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 3/8 and 2/2. Compound time breaks the beat into three-part rhythms. The top number is divisible by 3, but not equal to 3. With each beat being divided into three parts. Popular examples of Compound Time are; 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, and 6/4.So, let's get things started here; in Rhythm Guitar 006 - PART 01 – with further work understanding, "Simple and Compound Time."
