I suspect that like me, many users of youtube imagine other users not to be visually impaired as this is a predominantly visual medium. This of course is a thoughtless assumption. No doubt there are very many partially sighted and totally blind users throughout the world who get just as much pleasure from some sections of youtube as sighted people. This was brought home to me a couple of days ago when Bryan from the United States having commented kindly on my video Rosin the Bow then informed me that he is totally blind. My friend Des who organizes our Tuesday night sessions at the Tynwald Inn, St Johns, Isle of Man is also totally blind, though unless you were aware of the fact you would have difficulty in telling this to be so. Des has been playing guitar for many years as a blind man, and has developed a very good ear for chord recognition and changing. To assist him however, we usually announce what key we are playing in and the chords associated if not a simple three-chord bash. I have therefore attempted to create a video which might help partially sighted and blind guitarists/folksingers to follow me as I sing Rosin the Bow again.
I would appreciate as much feedback on this experiment as possible to see if it is something I might expand on in future.
