Apprentice Michael Reed comes to
Newport News Shipbuilding as a district
and state welding champion through the
SkillsUSA program. The recent Gloucester
High School graduate excelled in the
welding program at New Horizons Regional
Education Centers under the direction of
former NNS shipbuilder Ed Dupree.
Reed placed 12th in the national welding
championship, held in Louisville, Kentucky,
last week.
