An acoustic version of one of my new songs, from my upcoming album First Light. It's inspired by the many accounts I've read over the years of children caught in the crossfire of war, and their parents desperately trying to provide a life for them. This is most certainly one of the saddest songs I've written, but I feel it's something I needed to say. While this was written before the Syrian refugee crisis became global headlines, every time I see one of those poor children pulled from the dust and the debris, it reminds me why I wrote this song. They have no idea what's going on... why they hurt... why their parents are gone.... They are truly "the dirt beneath elephants' feet" and shouldn't have to suffer these horrors.
