This guy is just annoying without proper preparation, make sure someone have the Star Pendant or Poison+Elemental in defense.

Great Tip: Just prior to this, when Hojo is looking at Red XIII, you can steal Carbon Bangles from the Judge looking robots, they're called Moth Slashers, they look like Robots with hammers on a spiky spinning ball, steal as many as you can.
Also! There are soldiers wearing blue pants, looking like Cloud but with an other weapon and helmets on, steal Hardedge from them, a superior weapon for Cloud you can use untill you get Force Stealer from Junon!

Start off with 3x Fire/Ice-All to instantly kill most of the small sidekicks, they don't really do anything but can be annoying in the beginning.
Cross-slash will work on the sample sometimes, making it stop.

Quickly dispose of it with spells and limits.
