John Schaefer's Soundcheck on WNYC presents CMJ Showcase 2012! Debo Band is a horn-heavy, groove-based band from Boston; but the music they play comes from another place and another time. Namely, "Swinging Addis," as the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa was known in the late 60s and early 70s. Debo Band recreates the so-called Golden Age of Ethiopian pop with their high-octane set, live in the Greene Space. WNYC's Soundcheck joins the melee with its own CMJ showcase live in The Greene Space. Host John Schaefer welcomes MNDR, Dave Hill, Debo Band and The Luyas for an eclectic evening of ground breaking music, comedy, conversation and fun. Join us for what is sure to be an exciting night!
