Jocelyn Burkhart has worked as an experiential and outdoor educator, facilitator, forest fire fighter, farmer, permaculturalist, yoga teacher, and cook, and is grateful for the diverse experiences her work, research and play provide. Jocelyn also contributes as a sessional lecturer at Lakehead University where she completed a MEd in experiential and ecological agriculture education. Her research interests include holistic educational strategies such as gardening, wilderness outtripping, and contemplative practices such as yoga and reflection for their ability to foster ecological consciousness, self-awareness, and a capacity for healthy and compassionate relationships with both self and others. Jocelyn approaches life with joyful enthusiasm, a sense of inquisitiveness and appreciation, and a passion for conscious communication and community building. She is particularly interested in the power of intention, speech, and empathic listening for both personal and collective creative transformation and peacemaking.
