Commission presents first review of EU reform agenda

The European Commission published on Thursday a first comprehensive review of the financial regulation agenda. According to the EU's executive, the review review sets out how the reforms will deliver a safer and more responsible financial system by enhancing financial stability, deepening the single market for financial services and improving its efficiency whilst improving market integrity and confidence. "We have transparent reforms and what we want to do is to create a new truly European supervisor architecture and trough in all these texts I was driven by transparency to make sure that various protagonists were aware of their responsibility, the rating agencies may be tempted to manipulate figures of course because they deal with various different areas so that why we set that that was an offense and we also wanted to stop the taking of excessive risks and make sure that the financial institutions would be more solid." said EU Commissioner for Internal Market Michel Barnier.
