Ann Baker, Principal Lecturer in Philosophy, gives advice on how new students can make the most of their studies at the University of Washington. She encourages students to use as many UW resources as possible while here. She also reminds us that every book and lecture is built upon years of someone's research and passion, allowing us to learn things available only in our university setting. Ann Baker teaches a large introduction to philosophy course every year, in addition to other courses in metaphysics, epistemology, the history of modern philosophy, and occasionally a course on personal values. She specializes in Epistemology at the Department of Philosophy, with an interest in Metaphysics. Ann Baker received her doctorate from the University of Washington in 1990. Prior to returning to Seattle to teach in 1994, she taught at Illinois Wesleyan University, a small, private college focusing on the liberal arts in Bloomington, Illinois.
