Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, said on Tuesday that the ruling on the Lisbon Treaty by the Germany Constitutional Court poses no risk to the Lisbon Treaty on the future of Europe.

Speaking in Athens, Barroso welcomed the ruling, saying that the court ruling the treaty is fully compatible with Germany law.

The court did rule that the German parliament needs to adopt additional legislation to ensure that it can participate effectively in the new system that will give national parliaments in the EU a direct say in European politics.
