The National Union of Mineworkers have become the first COSATU union to publicly pronounce its preferred candidate to succeed President Jacob Zuma. They are backing one of their own, former NUM - Secretary General, Cyril Ramaphosa to take over the reigns as ANC President, when President Zuma's term ends in 2017.
