When an amazing holiday comes to an end it's always a little bit sad. I was in a tired, reflective mood taking off on the last leg of my trip home from Singapore, when suddenly the plane broke through to the dawn and I was treated to the most amazing sunrise.

It got me thinking about depression and hope and the cycle of these things, and my friend Damien's song popped into my head. I knew then that I had to use it for this little bit of video, and decided to record my own version on piano once I got back.

Here it is.

Damien's version features the lovely vocals of my other friend Fflur; I'm privileged to be in the band Tigers and Emperors with them and a couple of other really talented folks. Please check us out at http://www.tigersandemperors.com if you like.

Great blue waves rush in
Search through your life, within
Accept the pain, embrace the gloom
Take it all in, build your cocoon

And you will bloom and fly off into the sky
The sun hits your wings your beauty shines

Whatever life seems to bring
Treated like pauper, treated like king
Look and listen, learn and be
The lesson of life sets you free

And you will bloom and fly off into the sky
The sun hits your wings your beauty shines

Butterfly
Such beauty in you
Butterfly
