My 9 month old has 5-7 dirty diapers a day since he started solid foods. Is this normal?

You mentioned that your nine month old little boy has started to have frequent stools after you introduced solid food.  The number isn't as important as the consistency or the color.  If he's having five to seven form stools each day and they're the normal color then it's probably not a cause for concern especially if he's happy and healthy otherwise.  If you ever notice that they're loose or watery, or if they're red, black, or white then those are all concerning things and it should be brought to the attention of your pediatrician.  If he is having watery stool especially if it was associated with the introduction of solid foods there is always the possibility of an allergy.  See if you can pinpoint a certain something that he eats and if you notice that he has more stools after eating something in particular, try eliminating that from his diet and see if that makes a difference.  If it does then maybe he does have a food allergy.  Typical symptoms of food allergies can be vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, and rashes, so look for those things as well.
