This tea party almost went south when Aria's finger gets stuck in the creamer. Aria was a great host, even at two or three yrs. old. These Tea Parties were a common event back in the day. Aria would suddenly announce, "daddy, I want to have a tea party." Then the process would begin... Having a Tea Party involved a lot more than just sitting down and sipping "tea." The set up was half the fun. Aria would have to select the table cloth, napkins, cups, snacks, outfit and which teddy bear would be invited... Then there was the "I can't find my..." And the search was on. The idea of a tea party could easily turn into an hour of searching for the skunk plush toy that had disappeared. To actually get to the point where we would sit down and pour a liquid into a tea cup was a monumental accomplishment.
When Aria's finger got stuck I felt a wave of panic come across me. I knew this could go south real fast. One moment a calm tea party could turn into a screaming little girl with her no blood flowing to her finger. I remember thinking I may have to break the ring of the creamer off with a hammer. Then thinking Aria would be so anger with me for breaking the creamer. Luckily, it slid off and I got it on camera! Oh the joys of parenting. It was a great day in the end.
