This week on PBC Jabs, we recap our exciting first two fight cards of the year, former three-division world champion Leo Santa Cruz joins us for a round of Rapid Fire and we finally have all the details for the long-awaited Danny Garcia-Keith Thurman unification fight.

THIS is #PBCJabs.

In case you missed it, PBC’s first show of 2017 saw world champion Erislandy Lara successfully defend his 154-pound title against Yuri Foreman on January 13th on Spike. Lara looked sharp in his first fight in nearly eight months, finishing things off midway through Round 3 when he landed a perfect left uppercut that knocked Foreman down and out.

In the co-main event, former 168-pound champ Anthony Dirrell dominated Hungary’s Norbert Nemesapati from start to finish. And that finish came after six rounds, when Nemesapati’s corner threw in the towel.

Speaking of the 168-pound division, world champions James DeGale and Badou Jack put on a spectacular show January 14th in their title-unification bout that aired live on Showtime. DeGale scored a knockdown in Round 1 and controlled the early rounds, but Jack continued to press forward and finally answered with a big knock down of his own in Round 12.

The action-packed brawl, which is the early leader for Fight of the Year, ended with both men departing the ring with their belts around their waist, as the judges ruled the contest a majority draw.

Finally, 22-year-old Gervonta Davis picked up his first world title in just his 17th fight with a brutal seventh-round knockout of 130-pound champion Jose Pedraza. Davis is now 17-0 with 16 knockouts—including eight in row. Looks like the sky’s the limit for the man nicknamed “Tank.”

Of course, PBC isn’t done bringing you thrilling championship action this month. January 28th is the rematch between featherweight champ Carl Frampton and former champ Leo Santa Cruz. We recently took a trip to Los Angeles to learn a little bit more about Leo outside of the ring in PBC’s Rapid Fire.

March 4th is rapidly approaching, which means champions Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia and Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman are ramping up training as they get ready for the biggest fight of their careers. However, both fighters took a brief break from training camp on January 18th to attend a press conference in Brooklyn, New York, where the final details of their fight were announced. As expected, Thurman-Garcia will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with the bout airing live on CBS.
