(17 Dec 2018) A group of self-proclaimed yellow vest protest movement representatives called on Monday for protesters to join them in an effort to put together a list of volunteers to run in the upcoming European elections. Thierry-Paul Valette, who describes himself as the Paris coordinator of the movement, told journalists at a news conference in Paris that the 'structure' they were setting up was not a political party. "It's going to put the hope back into revolution, something positive and we're going to be able to give their place back to citizens – in a position to decide", Valette said. The group held their first meeting on Monday and insisted they had yet to designate candidates. "We're not even putting together a programme", explained another self-proclaimed representative Francis Lalanne. The yellow vest movement emerged mid-November as a protest against fuel tax increases and morphed into an expression of rage against the government.
