Instability of a buoyant plume

Incense stick placed in a red laser sheet in still air (though not perfectly still due to another wind tunnel running nearby, so the plume was snaking in and out of the sheet....). The classical instability is nicely demonstrated at around 1:46. The red laser was a Maplin laser diode that originally gave 0.8mW output but I 'overclocked' it to 4.22mW ;-)))
