Hotel Review: NH Mechelen, Mechelen, Belgium - April 2018. 

The NH Mechelen is a 20 minute walk from the Mechelen railway station near the centre of the city. The NH is a decent hotel that appeals to both the business and leisure tourist market. I stayed there for one night in April 2018 on a bed and breakfast basis, which cost a whopping £129.75. 

The film features views of the reception, bar, lift, restaurant, breakfast buffet and a detailed room inspection of room 302, which was nicely air-conditioned and very welcome as the temperature outside was 25 degrees celsius. The room had a double wardrobe, safe, full-length mirror, three chairs, dressing table, tea and coffee making facilities, television, desk area, ample plug sockets, luggage storage area, and a decent bathroom with a shower over the bath, which unfortunately was a negative to me - I prefer shower cubicles. 

The room was showing some signs of age, wear and tear. The wooden furniture was scuffed, and there were marks one the walls and carpet. If the NH wants to compete with contemporary competitors, I think a refurbishment is now due, particularly in light of what the room cost.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, all the usual salad items, yoghurts, cereals, along with bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, cooked tomatoes and mushrooms. 

The staff were all friendly and courteous, speaking good English. 

If I was staying in Mechelen again, I would definitely consider staying at this hotel, but only if the price was better, otherwise I would be looking towards other hotels.
