Govt answerable on LoP issue, not me: Sumitra Mahajan

With much hue and cry regarding the Leader of Opposition (LoP) issue, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Saturday said that it was for the government to decide on the matter and not her. "The government has to answer Supreme Court and not me", Mahajan said. The Speaker, however, justified her stand on the LoP issue, saying that a party needs to meet the criterion for the post. "There are certain norms for recognition of LoP, there has to be 1/10 strength," she further added.
