Telefonica Blue was unable to make much of a dent in Ericsson 4's lead in the Volvo Ocean Race, despite arriving first at the scoring gate off Newfoundland in leg seven from Boston, United States to Galway, Ireland. Skippered by Dutchman Bouwe Bekking, Telefonica Blue edged out American yacht Puma to claim the four points on offer. However, Ericsson 4, led by two-time Olympic gold medallist Torben Grael, made sure of third place to pocket three points and ensure their overall advantage was only fractionally reduced.
