The genius (madness) that was Bob Calvert. From the concept LP 'Captain Lockheed And The Starfighters', which tells the story of Germany's ill fated use of the American fighter jet, the Lockheed Starfighter. Nicknamed the 'Flying Coffin', the 'Widow Maker' and the 'Jinx Jet' due to the number of deaths because of faulty ejector seats. The jet was unstable and difficult to control. Upto making the album in 1974 there had been 162 Starfighter crashes. The album was almost a de-facto Hawkwind LP, with contributions from Dave Brock, Lemmy, Nik Turner, Simon King, Del Dettmar, Paul Rudolph as well as Adrian Wagner.
