Nigeria has been charged to adopt measures that are in tune with global best practices where the principles of rule of law and human rights are top priority. In the face of the changing dynamics in counter-terrorism efforts globally, this charge formed the main thrust at a High Level Inter-Agency Conference on Strengthening Criminal Justice Responses to Terrorism in Northeast Nigeria, in an event today in Abuja. In his speech, Richard Young, the EU Deputy Head of Missions in Nigeria said protecting the rights of Boko Harman suspects in custody is a key step that will make rehabilitation and re-integration somewhat easier.
