On Saturday, April 21 2012, 106 members of the Furry community crowded into Fernando's Cafe on Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh. The original plan was for this to be a final gathering before Fernando closed his shop for good; however one week prior, Samuel Conway - a.k.a. Uncle Kage, the chairman of Anthrocon, put out an appeal for folks to help. No one expected the sort of response that was seen. Almost 500 donations came in, not just locally but from all over the world, some even from people who had never been to Pittsburgh or Anthrocon, but who wanted to help out. In just that few days $21,000 was collected. (And from what I understand, donations are STILL coming in!) This video is the highlights from the live stream I ran from the event, recorded by the Ustream website. I used my iPad 3 on Verizon LTE to stream for 2 and a half hours (and I still had 75% battery left in the end!)
