Effective 12/01/2014, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Kalyan stations in Mumbai has been converted from DC power to AC power. After coming in AC power, we are treated with an amazing variety of pure AC locomotives like WAP-4, WAP-7, WAG-9, WAG-7, WAM-4 etc. WAM-4 locomotives are the oldest running electric locomotives of Indian Railways and they always look great and are still going young and strong. They have completed 43 years on Indian Railways. WAM-4's have added colours to Mumbai Suburban division and the coverage of these classic beasts taken last Sunday i.e 19/01/2014 can be seen as follows; 1) Beautiful ET WAM-4# 20625 descends the gradient and accelerates impressively with 13201 Rajendra Nagar Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express at Dombivli. 2) ET WAM-4# 21396 blasts at above 100kph with 15018 Gorakhpur Ltt Kashi Express between Kasara and Khardi stations. I loved the windmill in action too. 3) BSL WAM-4# 21279 accelerates with Udyog Nagri Express at Asangaon. 4) At dusk, 12261 Mumbai Cst Howrah Duronto Express overtakes 12144 Ltt Sultanpur express at Asangaon at above 100kph.
