(11 Dec 2018) A few thousand high school and university students took to streets of Paris on Tuesday, to protest against a new selection process into universities. While fellow students blocked around 60 high-schools across the country, demonstrators marched peacefully towards the Education Ministry where they were met by riot police. The situation remained calm and most turned around, organisers refusing to allow the situation to escalate. Many in the demonstration expressed solidarity with the ongoing Yellow Vest protest movement, some insisting President Macron had failed to convince them with Monday evening's televised address. "He's still full of disdain", Student Union Vice President Laura Pfister told the Associated Press.
