You can keep it pressed down to keep a steady fire going. There are four total different ammunition, each of them available in 4 upgrades: PteriShot is blue and it is the one you start with. It's a laser beam at first. Level 1: Small blue beam Level 2: Faster rate of fire Level 3: Faster rate of fire Level 4: Faster rate of fire FireBall is an orange-red fireball power up. It's a single fireball at first. Level 1: Single fireball Level 2: Two fireballs, V formation Level 3: Three fireballs, V formation Level 4: Three lightning beams, fast rate of fire PteriPod is green. It's a tri shooter that shoots in front of you and on your sides at first. Level 1: Shooting in cross formation Level 2: Two shots in cross formation Level 3: Faster rate of fire Level 4: Large straight shooting beam PteriBoom is purple and it's a purple boomerang that randomly aims! Level 1: Boomerang formation shot Level 2: Adds second boomerage, V formation Level 3: Faster rate of fire Level 4: Boomerangs increase in size Do note that if you have a level 2+ weapon of any color powerup and collect any other color than the one you have, you will have the new weapon at level 1 and if you get that weapon back again, it will start at level 1 again, so if you have a combo that you like, avoid all other colors as you'll be back at square one. You may find yourself frustrated early on by not being able to fire your gun rapidly especially as enemies start to close in. Level one weapons only allow two shots to be on screen, meaning, your shot has to clear the entire screen, or hit an enemy, before you can fire again. I recommend using the FireBall or PterBoom weapons, as their rate of fire and dispersal is good enough to clear yourself an opening and mow down plenty of enemies. But as always, whatever suits your style of play and works well is best for you. There are 2 types of enemies in this game: Pterodactyls: These come in a variety of colors, starting with brown and a slightly more resistant green. They then increase to blue, yellow and red each requiring more shots of the basic blaster to take them out. However, they are all worth only 5 points each. The brown ones only need to be short by any of the weapons at basic level to be taken out, green ones require two basic shots, blue ones require three shots of the basic weapon, and so on. Increasing the strength of your weapon makes taking them out easier. At the second level, your weapons kill both brown and green Pterodactyls with one shot for instance. Red Grarrl: Worth ten points if you shoot it, it will come up from behind you stomping down villages. Somewhat dangerous to shoot without diagonal or horizontal weapons. Honestly, for me, I just try to collect as many FireBall powerups as I can and mow down enemies and dodging any other colors of powerups so I don't lose my current powerup and start from level 1 on that weapon.
