Two weeks ago, our dear friend Sharon had passed away due to a tough battle with cancer. The week following the tragic event has been very hard for us. I know that she will always be with us and in heaven with her daughter Destiny (who I was in the hospital with when I had my bone marrow transplant 15 years ago), but it's so hard to say goodbye. I've never gone through anything like this before... Mourning over a loss seems so foreign to me and I don't know what to do. When Destiny died, my mom, Sharon, and Britney (Sharon's older daughter) went to her grave after she was buried, and before they got the chance to say goodbye, a small light yellow butterfly circled around every one of them. It was like a sign that Destiny was there. Since then, Sharon had a huge fascination with butterflies, (Monarchs in particular) and so today we went to the Natural History museum to see them and we left a message for Sharon and Destiny. May they rest in peace and be together forever.
