My first trip back to Belle Isle since June of last year! I've been wanting to go back there for a while, but was thinking more to do it when the weather ameliorates. And since today was nice and that I didn't have school, today happened to be the day! I was able to snag in a CSX manifest (unusual for the Rivanna Sub since it's 80% coal traffic) and the NS local, the latter being my best catch of today. Before showing the trains, however, the video opens up with a short clip of the NS yard prior to V08's arrival. The hiking video from today will be uploaded later. Enjoy the video! :)

Train #1: CSX manifest stops and later departs. As I was walking, I heard a horn, so I hurried over to where the railroad tracks were visible. When I got to a spot with a good view, I found the CSX train with some hoppers, making me think it was a grain train until I saw some tankers and open top hoppers behind it. The lashup has six engines, including an SD40-2 and an AC44 trailing. Later as I was going back from charging my camera, I saw the train moving again, so I made a run for the top of the stairway, which gives the best view of the Rivanna Sub from this side of the park.

Train #2: My favorite train to see at Belle Isle, NS V08 arrives. You know who else's favorite train at Belle Isle is V08? My mom! Just repeating Muscle Man from Regular Show. Anyways, I heard the P5 around 4:43 and expected it to be an SD40-2, the norm. But nope! Just like the last time I caught V08 here, I got a surprise. Something not an SD40-2 leading! This time it happens to be a GP38-2 with the Admiral Cab. Too bad it's not still a high hood, as the high hood would have made it more interesting, but I can't really complain. Another thing that makes this catch intriguing is that both engines happen to be running long hood forward! The lashup consists of an ex-SOU Admiral Cab rebuilt and an ex-BN/HLCX SD40-2. After they passed the camera, they rolled to a halt. The next clips after that are me showing whatever I can of the consist, and then I was able to get the engines uncoupling and proceeding into the yard.
