Kanchanapisek Home Director, Ticha na Nakorn, has opened new perspectives and new opportunities for youth living in detention. Her approach involves limiting strict security like high fences or barbed wire, and introducing a combination of activities to help positively change mindsets, build self-esteem and trust in young inmates. As the strict security and sense of imprisonment is removed, juvenile inmates live in a more homely environment. Ticha has created a series of activities to inspire them, to analyse what's right or wrong and understand the impact of their actions on others. For Ticha, every effort is made to ensure emotional well-being and so that each individual at the home can play a positive role in society. http://www.tedxbkk.com/2012 In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
