The Wales Millennium Centre and the Senedd are two of the defining contemporary buildings of Cardiff Bay and symbolize the cultural and political transformation of modern Wales. Opened in 2004, the Millennium Centre is a major performing arts complex recognizable by its massive copper-toned facade and monumental bilingual inscription, while the nearby Senedd, opened in 2006 and designed by Richard Rogers Partnership, houses the Welsh Parliament beneath a sweeping roof overlooking the bay. Together they helped establish the regenerated waterfront as a new civic center for the Welsh capital.
