Hiking the Little Bearwallow Trail across the street from Florence Nature Preserve in Upper Hickory Nut Gorge, NC. First I went to The Cascades on Hickory Creek, which was roaring due to recent rain. Next I hiked up to the massive cliff housing Little Bearwallow Falls, which had decent flow despite its minuscule source. See it soon after it rains or you might not see any water. From there the trail system isn't completed yet, but I took the Cliffs Trail along multiple massive cliff faces, but did not find Wildcat Rock which is labeled on the new topographic map. Where the trail maintenance ended with average views north, I decided to bushwhack up to Little Bearwallow Mountain. Despite no clear views I got to tag another prominent peak.
