Backpack Lawn Sprayers: Why you should always test with water!

I purchased a new backpack sprayer from harbor freight, and the first thing I did was tested it with water. This is very important! If you aren't testing with water first, that means you'll be using chemicals the first time you discover any leaks. This particular unit was leaking at the valve. I tried taking it apart to see if anything was stuck or if the o rings were broken, but nothing looked out of the ordinary. I tried to return the unit but was told you have to call an 800 number. Despite it being tested with water I guess there are laws they have to follow.
