Weeeeee what a week! Started off rather emotional as we had my Aunt's funeral Tuesday morning (R.I.P. Karen :( ), then I was off to Arena UK for the Major Championship Festival - I WAS entered for the 5yo class and the 95cm qualifier but had to withdraw from both sue to the funeral - so I took him round the clear round where I had no brakes. On Wednesday I did the Discovery and 1m05 qualifier - had the last fence down in the 105 but double clear in the Discovery, finishing 8th out of 197 people & qualifying for the final :D Then on Friday I went to Moreton Morrell for our first pre-novice BE - after a loooong and stressful day (I had ten minutes to warm up for the dressage cuz I got my time wrong :/), I finished on a 28.5 dressage (that's 71.5%!!) and we got our FIRST DOUBLE CLEAR!!! with just 0.8 time penalties to add we finished on 29.3 coming 3RD! In my section were people like Louise Skelton, Bill Levett, Ginnie Turnbull, Victoria Panizzon & Cinday Rawson... So I beat a few international riders! I was soooooo thrilled! On Sunday we were back to Arena UK for the disc final - we went clear first round, but as I went in for the jump off the commentator reminded me of the time to beat and my brain snapped into competitive mode - after the third fence I took a stupidly tight turn to a big oxer into a double and we had a stop :( it was entirely my fault so I just circled him and we completed, but I was kicking myself! But anyway, we finished in the top 5% as there were over 400 competitors in the discovery qualifiers during the week and only about 20 went clear on the last day, so he jumped extremely well - we received lots of compliments on how well behaved he is outside the ring and then he goes and jumps his heart out! I flipping LOVE this horse! Also, I put him in a new bit, hence the slow-mo bit in the warm up - just to show how different he is - he's not in a fulmer waterford, cuz I had no brakes in the loose ring but couldn't have any poll pressure because he pins his nose to his chest - I borrowed one from a friend and he went sooo differently, I was completely adjusting his stride in front of a fence without losing impulsion - so in the warm up I was playing, I had a huge oxer set up and playing around with his striding, it felt amazing!
