After several requests for a design to hold a dslr or heavier camcorder I designed this new platform to clamp to a umbrella shaft. Made from 16mm 2mm wall thickness aluminium tube with a v shaped notch to allow various diameters of shafts to be fitted. The friction mounted latch pivots to allow the quick insertion and release of the shaft. The thumbscrew applies the pressure to hold the shaft hard into the v shaped notch. The top platform, which carries the camera is fastened to the tube either by small screws or pop rivetting
