I finally got the USB to CAN/OBD-II cable that I ordered from China, and decided to throw it in and see if the data acquisition bogged down my already overworked old laptop. It is an ELM327 chipset with an RS232 to USB interface all in one package. The XOBD software interprets the data from the PCM and CAN and feeds it to Minicam, which overlays various sensor data as human-readable text on the captured video in real-time.
