I personally still think part of the reason why this game was canned, aside from quality reasons, was that Bethesda had a pre-conceptual idea for a game of their own similar to Prey 2's (open world space action RPG) and Zenimax decided they'd rather have their in-house studio Bethesda Game Studios make the game instead of Human Head.

And kinda off topic but based on all the recent trademark fillings and past leaks & insider info I'm completely sure their next game will be called Starfield and will be sci-fi themed. Personally for me it's more than a rumor at this point.

I'm hopeful that Bethesda at least took some ideas from P2 with their rumored Space RPG
