It's good news for borrowers but bad news for long-suffering savers. The Bank of England has slashed interest rates to the lowest levels ever. And the announcement came with a gloomy forecast for the future. Britain may avoid recession if we borrow and spend more but there will be "little growth" either way - and inflation and unemployment may rise.
