Dubbed the Pink Palace, for obvious reasons, the Royal Hawaiian has been attracting a stellar guest list since it first opened in 1927. t was built by the Matson Steamship Company to cater to the wealthy clientele of a new luxury cruise ship. Matson wanted Hawaii to compete with Europes famed resorts. Matson placed the Royal next door to another pioneer hotel the Moana. This large, wooden framed hotel first opened in 1901. It was the hub of Honolulus Waikiki district. Visiting is like taking a step back in time to an elegant era without giving up any modern amenities. How great is that?
