US Jobless Rate Jumps to 8.5 Percent

The Labor Department on Friday reported that employers eliminated a net total of 663,000 jobs last month, pushing the national unemployment rate to 8.5 percent -- the highest level in more than a quarter-century. Despite the disappointing job numbers, some investors are beginning to see some bright spots for the U.S. economy.
