Neal Barnard grew up in a farming town in North Dakota, where many of his relatives were cattle ranchers. That life never really appealed to him and instead he became a doctor. As VOA's Rosanne Skirble reports, over the last two decades Barnard has emerged as one of America's leading advocates for improved health, better nutrition and higher ethical standards in scientific research and medical practice.
