This is a video made at a DriversEdge.net HPDE event. It shows how the cars are sent out onto the track from the grid area. This is a Blue run group leaving the grid. The guy in the red shirt is releasing the cars. Each car gives him a thumbs up and he points directly at them and waves them onto the track. Notice that in HPDE the run groups are determined by driver experience and not the car. You can see a wide range of performance and power being launched onto the track together here. It's a performance driving event, not a race. Most of the time.
