This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Looking at the language and culture, Ingrid reminds us of the importance of words in carrying ideas and histories, and shows us how many languages are under threat. Ingrid was at SWPS from 2002- 2009. She graduated from Nottingham University last June with a degree in German and Politics; a subject choice which was influenced by her love for languages. She has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, spent a year living and working in Austria, captained the university rowing squad, and made friends for life. She is also half Hungarian. Language learning is something which she is extremely passionate about. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
