Rinpoche explains that whenever we receive harm, there is always a reason for that. The reason is that we harmed others in the past and now we receive that harm. While we always think “I am perfect, others are wrong, I have done nothing wrong"" in reality that is not true at all. Yet we instantly blame the other. Quoting Shantideva Rinpoche encourages us to reverse that view. Otherwise we are just like an animal. If it gets bitten, it bites back.Understanding that the harmful action this person has now done might cause him to go to lower realms, we should instead generate great compassion for him and do strong prayers. This is a very important practice. Even if you know a lot of Dharma, but then you get angry if somebody harms you, it will destroy all your realisations. You might end up with even more pride and ego than before meeting the Dharma. This video was extracted from a teaching that was recorded in Kathmandu, Nepal on December 8, 2017.
