Male Artemia black spot / bad shed?

One of the male Artemia from my Buki Mine Monsters kit has something black attached to his modified antenna claspers used in breeding (I like to call them "antlers"). I think it might just be part of his old exoskeleton that failed to shed off, but am unsure why it is black so have separated him from the others and may actually try to remove it with tweezers. I'm partly worried it may be an infection that could spread to the others.
