Neutronic Beats NTB043 Artist: Manga 'Tokko/Colossus' Release Date: 13th April 2018 Neutronic's chief label executive, Manga, has been busy installing some upgrades. Manga's distinctive style and unique identity has always given him that essential edge; that inimitable niche design surpassed by none, and this is what has established him as the leader in his field. We've all been watching quietly in anticipation of something momentous and this masterpiece does not fail to impress; an esoteric double A-side anthem of invincible typology. 1/ 'Tokko' So much slicker than ever, this sick freakshow is dangerously infectious. Intro'd with deep, ominous horns and precise filtered breaks, we're then teased with the imperative "monsters' manga cartoon sample before a killer drop. Manga's trademark bass morphology is developed with polished aesthetics while subtle reverb creates extra space and dynamics. 2/ 'Colossus' This magnum opus is initially led with dissonant piano and enharmonic sequence sounds. We're led to the edge by compulsive, smashed breaks, pitched FX and deep orchestral drums before being plunged into silence. The build up is extreme and it needs to be because the drop is Manga's finest moment; an exposition on just how fiercely he could twist his bass devices before they exploded.
